After three successful years as a resident in the Dixon Rural Training Track Family Medicine Residency Program, Poonam Sachdev, MD, graduated in late June 2010. Prior to the official graduation ceremonies in Rockford, KSB hosted a reception for Dr. Sachdev at White Pines Inn.
"Dr. Sachdev's graduation marks a beginning as well as an end," said Merry Demko, MD, site director. "It has been a pleasure having her as part of our residency program. As she finishes her residency, we are both proud of her accomplishments and excited about what lies ahead in her future."

After three weeks of orientation, the Dixon Rural Training Track's two new residents are on the job and seeing patients at the Family Health Center at Town Square Centre. Puja Gurung, MD and Ameen Wasim, MD spent the better part of July in Rockford attending orientation with other first year residents from the core program.

In the course of building their careers, members of the Family Medicine Residency Program also are helping build homes.
Three resident physicians and several staff members of the Family Health Center took a recent Saturday to lend a helping hand to the Dixon Habitat for Humanity's project to build a new home for a local resident.
